Immigration

Last week, Homeland Security had a change of mind about building the infamous Texas-Mexico border fence in Presidio, Texas.

A change of mind NOT a change of heart.

The intention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to criminalize all undocumented immigrants caught living in the United States illegally has reached a saturation point with courts in the southwest region of the country.

Disturbing news was reported out of Tijuana, Mexico recently.

As Latina Lista posted yesterday, a bill for the medical care and humane treatment of detained undocumented immigrants while in detention was presented to the Senate this week.

Lately, there has been an inordinate amount of articles written about the Republican presidential nominee John McCain and his chances with the Hispanic electorate.

An appalling story out of St. Anthony, Idaho speeded across the Internet this morning. According to Idaho Falls CBS affiliate, KIDK, a 10-year-old girl gave birth to a 6 lb. baby girl as a result of being raped.

One crux of immigration enforcement is identifying undocumented immigrants in the first place.

What has erupted between the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, and the US-Mexico border residents over the border fence construction is a showdown that is more than just a challenge of the federal government — it's defending against the arbitrary decisions made by one man.
